We are currently looking for a Policy Officer and a Member Relations and Executive Assistant to join our team on a full-time permanent basis, as well as an Administrative and Finance Assistant for 6 months and an Events Assistant intern for 4-6 weeks.

Policy Officer

Do you want to help make Belgium an investment powerhouse? Are you a citizen of the world, yet also genuinely interested in Belgian politics, economics and society? Are your curious, constructive and do you connect the dots? Then you might be our next Policy Officer! 

As a Policy Officer, you are responsible for analyzing and leveraging relevant intelligence and data to support and develop our advocacy messages and proactively engage stakeholders. Advocacy and knowledge-sharing are foundational to AmCham’s pivotal role in improving business and investment opportunities for the US-Belgian business community.

  • You collect, analyze and leverage intelligence and data from a variety of Belgian, European and international sources on a wide range of topics which are relevant to AmCham’s advocacy and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • You ensure the good functioning of our Government Relations Forum, which aims to promote the regular exchange of viewpoints and constructive dialogue with policymakers and other stakeholders. 
  • In close coordination with the Chamber's competent bodies, you are responsible for developing advocacy documents and engaging with stakeholders. You support the leadership in stakeholder outreach.

To excel as our new Policy Officer

  • You have a higher education degree in law, economics, political science or another relevant subject.
  • You have experience in Belgian public affairs (agency experience is a plus).
  • You are curious, constructive and you connect the dots. 
  • You have excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and are fluent in Dutch and French.

Member Relations & Executive Assistant

Do you love getting things organized and are you committed to quality? Are you motivated to strengthen relationships with our member companies and feel comfortable dealing with senior executives? Then we would like to hear from you as we search for a new Member Relations & Executive Assistant to join the AmCham Belgium team! 

As a Member Relations & Executive Assistant, you provide executive assistance to the CEO, support the Chamber’s day-to-day operations and act as point of contact for our new members. As a member-driven organization, our member community is at the center of our attention.

  • You assist our CEO in responding to enquiries and managing her calendar, handle meeting administration, and ensure smooth day-to-day engagements. You provide administrative and operational support to the executive team in the daily running of the office. You are the first touchpoint for enquiries on AmCham’s general email and phone line.
  • You are the first point of contact for prospective members, ensuring that they have the best possible introduction to our member community. You enthusiastically accompany them in the first 18 months of their membership journey, coordinating with the rest of the team for service delivery. You play a key role in recording accurate, up to date and complete information in the member database.

To excel as our new Office Assistant, the following qualities most certainly serve you:

  • You have a master’s or bachelor’s degree. Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a member-driven organization or professional services environment, is a plus. 
  • You have excellent written and spoken communication skills in English. A good level of Dutch and French is a must.
  • You are proactive and have excellent organizational skills. You are particularly meticulous and pay attention to detail. You see things through to the end, iron out the wrinkles and ensure everything works well.
  • You are tech-savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office applications and able to learn and adapt to new systems quickly. Experience with CRM systems and/or databases is a plus.

Administrative and Finance Assistant (paid internship)

As Administrative and Finance Assistant, you will assist with invoicing and payment follow up, office administration (including our move to a new office space), as well as support in delivering services to AmCham Belgium’s member community. 

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team starting in October 2022 for a period of six months. This is a paid full-time internship.

  • Assist with membership and event invoicing, as well as payment collection
  • Help ensure that the (remote) office runs smoothly by liaising with suppliers and team members, to ensure that all required infrastructure and materials are on hand and functioning.
  • Maintaining and enriching data on all AmCham Belgium systems, including our CRM system and knowledge center.
  • Work together with the rest of the team to ensure a member-focused approach and the best delivery of services to our members, including through support on events.
  • We offer a six-month paid internship contract (convention d’immersion professionnelle / beroepsinlevingsstage). The financial compensation is current €940 per full month worked

You will most certainly have the following qualities:

  • You have experience in accounting/finance and customer (member) service, including issuing and following up on invoices and responding to enquiries on the telephone and in writing.
  • You are fluent in English and have a good level of French and/or Dutch (written and spoken), as well as the ability to communicate with tact and accuracy.
  • You are tech-savvy and familiar with Microsoft Office applications and able to learn and adapt to new systems quickly. Experience with CRM systems and/or databases is a plus.
  • You have proven organizational skills, including the ability to manage several priorities simultaneously and work both within a team and independently.

Events Assistant (internship)

Are you interested in the events world and looking to gain practical experience and learn more about the sector? Then you might be a great fit to join the AmCham Belgium team as we get ready for our biggest event of the year: our black-tie gala dinner!

AmCham Belgium is currently looking for an Events Assistant (intern) to join our team in Brussels for a period of four to six weeks to assist in the organization of our biggest event of the year: our black-tie gala dinner that brings together the international business community in Belgium. We would like you to start as soon as possible but at the latest by September 1.

Through the process, you'll learn how to run a successful event and everything it takes to plan and organize a large-scale event, including

  • Events planning: Assisting the events team in all aspects of the gala planning
  • Events logistics:
    • Help to prepare all necessary materials for the event (e.g.: badges...)
    • Handle on-site logistics (e.g.: setup, registrations, breakdown….) 
    • Collect feedback through the post-event survey
  • Member experience: Provide our members with high-quality, professional service.
