Events Officer

The American Chamber of Commerce in Belgium (AmCham Belgium) represents 400 member companies, including some of the largest US and Belgian companies across various sectors. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Events Officer to join us in a pivotal role as we continue to grow and strengthen our Chamber.


About the job

As the Events Officer, you will be responsible for more than 40 advocacy, knowledge-sharing, and networking events per year for AmCham member companies. Events range in size from intimate roundtables with 20 attendees to the Annual AmCham Gala, which is attended by more than 400 Belgian and American business leaders and stakeholders.

The Events Officer will oversee the full lifecycle of event delivery, from concept development and partner identification to detailed planning, budget management, execution, and follow-up. 

In addition to the organizational skills and knowledge needed to plan a successful event, the ideal candidate will also act as a community builder, creating spaces for connection among members, and will champion a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere where both new and longstanding members feel valued and heard.


Responsibilities:

  • Leads all aspects of events organization, which may include venue visits, contract reviews, budget management, agenda development, vendor communications, event set up and more.
  • Works in close coordination with the Communications and Membership Leads to align event content with audience targeting and strategic priorities. 
  • Proactively develops and maintains a forward-looking events calendar, ensuring a well-balanced mix of all-member and exclusive events that provide value across all membership tiers and sponsorship levels.
  • Possesses strong, demonstrable experience in preparing event budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Ensures the timely preparation and distribution of event-related communications, including compelling promotional copy and visuals that highlight upcoming events.
  • Regularly proposes new, innovative event concepts to enhance varied participation.  
  • Uses AmCham’s enterprise resource planning system (Odoo) on a daily basis to keep all event and meeting dates current in internal tracking systems and on the Chamber’s website.
  • Attends events (oftentimes in the evening) and interacts with attendees before, during and after events.
  • Leads calendar planning and vendor / partner outreach for 2027 and future years.
  • Prepares and analyzes post-event surveys to ensure member feedback is noted and integrated into future planning efforts.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree required; a degree or background in business administration is preferred.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience planning corporate events with a current knowledge of venues and vendors in and around Brussels.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Professional working proficiency in French. Fluency in Dutch is a bonus.
  • Organized, proactive and able to balance multiple projects at once.
  • Relevant previous experience, preferably in professional services or member-driven organization.
