Legal & Taxation Committee meeting

Open Committee Meeting

The Legal & Taxation Committee will meet on Friday, November 15,  from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at KPMG, Luchthaven Brussel Nationaal 1K, 1930 Zaventem.
Thank you, Koen, for hosting us!

The main topic of discussion will be a U.S. Tax Update: Post-Election Outlook.

The U.S. presidential and congressional elections approach and the results are likely to bring important shifts in the US international corporate tax landscape. The tax policy agendas of the new President and Congress could have significant implications for both domestic and international taxation. In addition, key provisions under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA) – still introduced by former President Trump – are set to expire or undergo major changes in 2025, which could result in a potential multi-trillion-dollar revenue shortfall, with international tax rules likely becoming a target for revenue-raising measures.

Julio Castro, International Tax Partner with the London branch of KPMG LLP in the USA, will discuss how the election results may shape future corporate tax policy and some of the TCJA provisions expiring or changing in 2025. He will also explore potential tax reforms in light of the election outcomes, with particular attention to how these changes could impact Belgium and US companies, both in their domestic operations and in their international activities.

As a kind reminder, as a part of our Committee Recruitment Campaign, you are encouraged to invite a professional contact or friend from a US corporate—whether their company is currently a member of AmCham Belgium or not—to join our meeting. You will be receiving an email with more information on the campaign tomorrow.
