Brussels, June 19, 2025 – AB InBev (Euronext: ABI), the global leader in the beer industry, celebrates 25 years of listing on the Brussels stock exchange and, with it, the promotion of Belgian beer culture worldwide. Since its initial public offering 25 years ago, AB InBev has grown into a global player with an ongoing commitment to sustainable growth.
Belgian Prime Minister Bart De Wever said: “The regional roots of this company date back to 1366, when the Den Hoorn brewery opened its doors in Leuven. More than six centuries later, that small medieval tavern has grown into the world's largest beer brewer. For our country, AB InBev is not just a company, it is a national icon."
AB InBev went public on Euronext Brussels in 2000, raising €2.9 billion ($2.5 billion), which was the largest IPO ever in Belgium. The brewer sold 88.2 million shares, representing 21 percent of its capital. With a turnover of approximately $59.8 billion USD in 2024, AB InBev continues to grow worldwide. Today, the brewer supports more than 144,000 jobs worldwide, including more than 2,800 direct jobs in Belgium.
Beer is an engine of prosperity and growth: 1 in 100 jobs worldwide is linked to the beer sector. As beer gains market share within the global alcohol sector, its economic and social impact is also growing.
Michel Doukeris, CEO of AB InBev, said: “This milestone is more than a business achievement. It is a tribute to Belgium—its brewing tradition, its entrepreneurial spirit, and the deep roots that connect AB InBev to Belgium.”
Headquartered in Leuven, AB InBev has grown to become the global leader in the beer industry. From Stella Artois, brewed with Belgian craftsmanship and loved in more than 100 countries, to Leffe, available in more than 70 countries, AB InBev promotes Belgian beer culture worldwide.
These beers are also gaining popularity in growth markets such as South America, Asia, and Africa. This proves the brewer's ability to combine local relevance with global presence in order to share Belgian beer culture with a growing global audience. Today, 1 in 4 beers sold worldwide comes from AB InBev – proof of their unrivalled global presence.
