AmCham Belgium launches new Sustainability & Innovation Subcommittee

We are pleased to announce the launch of our new Sustainability & Innovation Subcommittee. As the voice of international business, AmCham Belgium represents our member companies in the public debate and provides a platform for our community to discuss the issues shaping the future of our society and economy.

Addressing climate change, preserving biodiversity and achieving other Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), requires partnership and collaboration between sectors, large and small actors in our society and government, to build the sustainable economy of tomorrow. AmCham Belgium would like to help facilitate this coming together within the Belgian landscape for our members.

- says Gilda Neiman, Chair of the Sustainability & Innovation Subcommittee and Vice-President of AmCham Belgium.

All economic actors are called on to do their part in the green transition. Business models and strategies are being adapted to new rules and regulations – as well as evolving customer preferences. For these changes to be economically successful, companies and policymakers will need to have an open dialogue and work together, in a spirit of mutual collaboration.

With our new Sustainability & Innovation Subcommittee, member companies will have the opportunity to participate in the debate and support each other in their sustainability journeys and innovative approaches, benefiting from the strength of the cross-sectoral AmCham Belgium community.

The Subcommittee, which operates under our Government Relations Forum (GRF), is open for new applications from all member companies at the Sustaining, Patron and Group Patron membership levels.

Our first official meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00. It will be hybrid and open to all interested, eligible AmCham Belgium members (first come, first served for attendance in person). Our guest speaker will be Ms. Sarah Kuen, Counsellor for Environment and Climate at the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the European Union. Ms. Kuen will be discussing the EU’s Fit for 55 package and the outcome of the European Environment Council.

The Sustainability & Innovation Subcommittee will meet regularly to discuss topics such as the EU’s ‘Fit for 55’ package and the upcoming COP26, and welcome experts in the field as guest speakers. The Mission Statement, with more details on its priorities and focus areas, can be found here.

If you would like to participate in these discussions, share experiences and best practices, strengthen your network and be part of AmCham Belgium’s advocacy on these topics, join us!
