In 2018, AmCham Belgium introduced the AmChampion Awards, an initiative to recognize the member companies within our community that have been most engaged with the Chamber.
Traditions are to be treasured, especially in such a difficult year as 2020. Although this year we weren’t able to organize our Thanksgiving Dinner at the US Ambassador’s Residence in Brussels, where we usually announce our AmChampion Award winners, we still intend to publicly express our gratitude towards the most active members of our community. After the winter holidays, we will be announcing the AmChampions ’20 at our New Year event.
Circumstances have meant that member engagement has been of a different nature this year, and we truly appreciate all our members’ contributions towards the Chamber. As every year, we will be awarding two member companies with the AmChampion ‘20 title: one small company (less than 100 employees in Belgium) and one large company (more than 100 employees in Belgium).
We are honored to introduce you to the seven AmChampion Award nominees, member companies that have made the most of their AmCham Belgium membership over the past year. To select the nominees, we have taken into account numerous engagement touchpoints, including: physical and online event participation, other digital interactions with the Chamber, Committee engagement, financial contribution and participation in knowledge-sharing opportunities, such as features on our blog and sharing useful resources for our community during the COVID-19 crisis.
AmChampion Award for small companies
Congratulations to CS&A International, Kearney and Odgers Berndtson for their nomination!
CS&A International is an expert in risk, crisis and business continuity management, specializing in crisis anticipation, detection, prevention and mitigation. Founded in Hong Kong 28 years ago, CS&A operates globally from key geographic locations in Europe, Asia and the United States. In Belgium, CS&A has been a member of the Chamber since 2014. Ever since, the company has been a great supporter of AmCham Belgium.
CS&A is devoted to the mission of helping its multinational clients continuously enhance their crisis resilience by delivering customized best practice solutions and services.
Most notably, Koen Peeters, Senior Consultant at CS&A, is Chair of the Communications Committee, now in his second term. Koen and the CS&A team have been invaluable partners for AmCham Belgium during the COVID-19 crisis. In fact, CS&A delivered the first online event on the topic for our members. The company has altogether been of great support to our community, by sharing their crisis management expertise and being an active contributor to the AmCham Belgium blog and newsletter. Their deep commitment, we are proud to note, has led them to being an AmChampion Award nominee for the third consecutive year!
A global consulting partnership with a presence in more than 40 countries, Kearney employees are defined as "individuals who take as much joy from those we work with as the work itself", a people-centric attitude that has been appreciated at AmCham Belgium since they joined in 2006. Priding themselves on their ‘can do’ approach, this has been evident in their contribution to a joint flash survey of our membership which offered us a preliminary assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak on the international business community in Belgium and a snapshot of business leaders’ opinions across a range of industries.
Yvan Jansen, Partner and Head of the Brussels office, is a member of AmCham’s Board of Directors and Membership Committee. Yvan also participated in our LinkedIn Live session, AmCham Meetup with US Ambassador Ronald J. Gidwitz, to speak about Kearney’s contribution to the coronavirus crisis response. Their community focus is greatly valued in this time of crisis, and we are happy to announce Kearney’s nomination for this year’s AmChampion Awards.
For over 50 years, Odgers Berndtson has helped some of the world’s biggest and best organizations find the senior talent to drive their agendas. Delivering executive search, assessment and development to businesses and organizations varying in size, structure and maturity across 50 sectors, and with teams in 30 countries, they have been a valuable member of AmCham Belgium’s community since 1997.
Over the past year, several Odgers Berndston employees have attended many of our physical and online events. David Webber, Senior Executive Search Partner in Odgers Berndtson’s Brussels office and great supporter of the Chamber and our team, is Chair of our Human Capital and Talent Committee. Needless to say, through this role, his contribution to our knowledge-sharing and advocacy activities has been tremendous, especially during these challenging times. Additionally, until recently the company was also represented in our Young Professionals Committee, and we look forward to their continued engagement with our activities.
AmChampion Award for large companies
Congratulations to EY Belgium, Janssen Pharmaceutica, Pfizer and PwC Belgium for their nomination!

With such a statement more timely than ever before, EY has been invaluable in sharing the their expertise and useful resources with the AmCham Belgium community during the COVID-19 crisis.
EY representatives have also been contributing to our advocacy work through their participation in no less than six Committees and Subcommittees. In fact, Tom Swinnen, Associate Partner of EY Law, is Chair of our Legal Subcommittee. Last but not least, we highly value EY’s support as a longstanding Strategic Sponsor.
The partnership between AmCham Belgium and Janssen Pharmaceutica - the Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson – started nearly 40 years ago and has grown substantially along the way in no small part due to our shared goal of making Belgium more attractive for foreign investment. Janssen’s engagement with the Chamber ranges from the company’s involvement in our Board of Directors, Human Capital and Talent, Innovative Healthcare and Legal & Taxation Committees and Government Relations Forum, to their commitment to AmCham Belgium through our Strategic Sponsorship program. We are proud to see Janssen nominated for the second time for the AmChampion Awards!

With four sites located in Belgium to support its Belgian and international activities, Pfizer’s footprint in the country is significant. And, for over 50 years, the company has been an essential part of the AmCham Belgium community.
Over the past year, Pfizer’s active participation in our Committees and Board of Directors has been instrumental in achieving our strategic goals and carrying out our advocacy work. As Vice-Chair of our Innovative Healthcare Committee (IHC), Kathleen Commers, for example, contributed to expanding the Committee’s work and played an essential role in defining our recently launched Year of Healthcare initiative. In addition, Pfizer’s commitment as a Strategic Sponsor is greatly appreciated.
