2019 AmChampion Award Nominees

Last year, AmCham Belgium introduced the AmChampion Awards to recognize the member companies within our community which have been most engaged with the Chamber.

With the objective of making the awards a tradition at AmCham Belgium, we can think of no better occasion to announce our AmChampions ’19 than at our annual Thanksgiving Walking Dinner, which takes place this year on November 14. Considering our diverse membership base and the different ways in which companies can engage with and contribute to the Chamber, we will be awarding two members with the AmChampion title: one small company (less than 100 employees in Belgium) and one large company (more than 100 employees in Belgium).

Today, we are excited to introduce you to the six AmChampion Award nominees (three per category), member companies that have been participating in many of our activities over the past year and have made the most of their AmCham Belgium membership. In order to select the nominees, key engagement touchpoints – such as event participation, Committee membership, digital interaction with the Chamber, financial contribution and participation in knowledge-sharing opportunities – were analyzed and measured.

Without further ado, the 2019 AmChampion Award nominees are…

CS&A International

CS&A International is an expert in risk, crisis and business continuity management, specializing in crisis anticipation, detection, prevention and mitigation. Founded in Hong Kong 28 years ago, CS&A operates globally from key geographic locations in Europe, Asia and the United States. In Belgium, CS&A has been a member of the Chamber since 2014. Ever since, the company has been a great supporter of AmCham. Most notably, Koen Peeters, Senior Consultant at CS&A, has played a leading role in shaping and delivering our communications strategy as Chair of the Communications Committee. This year, Koen was re-elected to lead the Committee for his second term. CS&A has also been often represented by different team members at our networking or knowledge-sharing events, and 2019 was no exception. In fact, CS&A is an AmChampion Award nominee for the second time this year – a testament to the company’s commitment and support of AmCham Belgium!

CS&A is devoted to the mission of helping its multinational clients continuously enhance their crisis resilience by delivering customized best practice solutions and services.

Howard has been involved with our activities for almost 40 years and, as President of the Chamber, he’s played a key role in shaping our organizational strategy. As a true AmCham Belgium champion, Howard has made sure that other Jones Day colleagues attend our events and engage with the Chamber’s digital platforms.

Whyte Corporate Affairs

Whyte Corporate Affairs is the leading Belgian, independent corporate affairs company, delivering expert corporate communications and public affairs advice and support. We preach and practice an integrated ‘corporate affairs’ approach, which is based on our in-depth expertise in media & influencer relations, public affairs, crisis communication & issue management, internal communication & change management, and financial communication & investor relations – all based on an appropriate level of intelligence and analytical work.

Whyte Corporate Affairs was founded in 2008 and has become a market leader in its area of expertise, with offices in Brussels (HQ) and Antwerp. At AmCham Belgium too, Whyte Corporate Affairs has shown that leadership is truly in the company’s DNA: Both Partners at the company, Sandrine Agie is Vice-Chair of our Membership Committee and Joris Bulteel is the Vice-Chair of our Antwerp Chapter. To top things up, Amédée de Radzitzky joined the Young Professional Committee a little more than a year ago and was elected as Vice-Chair this year. In 2019, Amédée has also taken up the role of liaising between our Young Professionals and Communications Committees, ensuring our efforts and those of our volunteers are most impactful.

BNP Paribas Fortis

BNP Paribas Fortis is the largest bank in Belgium, and it offers a full range of financial services.

An enthusiastic, responsible and innovative partner. At BNP Paribas Fortis, we offer our customers a full range of financial products and services. Every day, we help our customers, regardless of their profile, whether they are individuals, companies or public institutions.

For AmCham Belgium too, BNP Paribas Fortis has been “an enthusiastic, responsible and innovative partner”. Throughout the past year – and not only – BNP Paribas Fortis has seized many opportunities to maximize its collaboration with the Chamber. From making connections during our events, to reinforcing the recommendations in our 2019 Priorities for a Prosperous Belgium (#PPB19) and actively contributing to no less than four of our Committees: the Human Resources, Membership and Young Professionals Committees, as well as our Government Relations Forum! What’s more, as of 2019, BNP Paribas Fortis is represented in the leadership teams of two of these Committees: Mouna Ferdi is Vice-Chair of the Human Resources Committee and Kurt Beullens is Vice-Chair of the Young Professionals Committee.

Janssen Pharmaceutica

The partnership between AmCham Belgium and Janssen - the Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson – started nearly 40 years ago and it’s been growing stronger ever since. This is in no small part due to a shared commitment to making Belgium more attractive for foreign investment and continue playing “a leading role in the search for global innovative solutions,” as Stef Heylen, Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Janssen Pharmaceutica said in our #PPB19.

Janssen’s engagement with the Chamber ranges from the company’s involvement in our Board of Directors, Human Resources, Innovative Healthcare and Legal & Taxation Committees and Government Relations Forum, to their commitment to AmCham Belgium through our Strategic Sponsorship program.

At Janssen, we’re creating a future where disease is a thing of the past. We’re working tirelessly to make that future a reality for patients everywhere by fighting sickness with science, improving access with ingenuity, and healing hopelessness with heart. We focus on areas of medicine where we can make the biggest difference: Cardiovascular & Metabolism, Immunology, Infectious Diseases & Vaccines, Neuroscience, Oncology, and Pulmonary Hypertension.

A truly international firm, KPMG Belgium employs over 1,450 people from more than 30 countries. As well as being a key contributor to many of our events, KPMG has consistently been an active and engaged member of the Legal & Taxation and the Human Resources Committees. As a long-standing member and Strategic Sponsor of AmCham Belgium, KPMG supports our annual program and champions our efforts to create a positive investment climate in Belgium. A strong believer in the importance of investing in people, KPMG Belgium’s CEO, Koen Maerevoet, has also shared his extensive experience as an executive of one of Belgium’s leading professional services firms with AmCham’s young professionals network, offering insight to help the next generation of leaders prepare for the future.
